We at Holy Name want you to know how important your child’s education is to us. Our top priority is the children. As your principal, I am faced with decisions each day regarding our school program and the professional development of our staff. In doing so, I am constantly reminded of a commentary from one of my former professors when I was a graduate student earning my degree in administration … “as long as you base your decisions on the benefit of the children, you will make the best decisions”. These are words that have helped me to thrive in my work as well as the teachers. They are words that I believe are the underlying reason why Holy Name of Jesus School is successful… because decisions are based on the benefit of the children.
Our Masters’ certified teachers offer enriching lessons that follow the New York State Standards beginning in Pre-Kindergarten. We are attentive to the proper development of cognitive, fine-motor, gross motor, and social skills at an early age in order to avoid early intervention services as well as guarantee academic growth in the grades to follow. Holy Name students complete PreK having acquired the necessary reading, writing, and math readiness skills to prepare them for Kindergarten. They begin to read and write fluently by first grade! In 8th grade, our students are accepted into the finest Catholic High Schools which include Fordham Prep, Regis, Good Counsel, and Holy Child (just to name a few).
Most importantly, we are committed to our MISSION, which is “to teach as Jesus did, with respect, dignity, and sensitivity for each student. In doing so, we seek to build life- long learners and good Christian citizens”. To instill morals and values in children is a responsibility of both parents and Catholic School educators. Providing your child with a faith-filled surrounding is a great gift to him/her that comes with sacrifice. Yes, there is a price on education, but you cannot put a price on the benefits of a Catholic Education.
